I do daily balance exercises and never quite succeed in balancing, but I persevere anyway—which I guess is a metaphor for all the other ways I seek balance. If I never toppled over, I wouldn’t be trying…
Love this! In my experience, balance in life is never constant. I've had times like you described, full of interruptions and difficulty, when it's impossible to stay in my balanced routine. And I love my routines! Those are times when the best I can do is pray: "Loird, help me. When I am weak, then I am strong." God uses all of it - our balanced and unbalanced days.
Yes. This was me. So busy, but no time to stop and reconsider. I found the pandemic to be the Great Disruptor--the thing that brought us all to a screeching halt and gave us time to reconsider our patterns, our priorities, and our passions.
As a result, my husband and I are on a completely different track now. We left our jobs a few years early and sold or gave away everything so we can just wander the globe as unencumbered full-time nomads. But that has come with its own brand of chaos. Now that we are finally settling into travel life, I am looking to establish some new patterns, new rhythms and habits. This post was helpful to me. Thanks.

I've reserved a copy of McEntyre's book at the library ... I can't wait to page through it.
